You have chosen your perfect wedding venue, but you are not sure what is the next step. That’s ok! You only get to plan your wedding once. Planning a wedding is a significant undertaking that can drive even the most organized bride crazy. This post will share with you the next step you should take after booking your wedding venue.

Congratulations On Booking Your Wedding Venue!

So, congratulations on booking your perfect venue to celebrate your love and commitment to each other as a couple. However, you are not done yet. There are still a few things that need to be taken care of before you can cruise into that big day. According to WeddingWire, the average couple generally hires 14 vendors for their wedding. Vendors are the key people who make the magic happens for your dream wedding. Vendors such as wedding planners, photographers, videographers, caterers, DJs or bands, makeup artists, bridal boutiques, and more will be essential parts of your wedding planning theme.

After Booking Your Venue, What Should You Do Next?

After you have booked your wedding venue, I think that the next vendor you should be interviewing and hiring is your wedding photographer. This may sound a little bias to you since I’m a wedding photographer but stick with me for a minute.

Think for a minute of the countless hours and hard-earned money that you will have invested in pulling off your magical wedding. Imagine how beautiful you will look in that trumpet style wedding dress, the cathedral veil, the oohs and gasps of your family and friends. Visualize how handsome he looked in his custom-tailored tux. Hear the laughter, and cheers, smell the sweet flowers, and taste the delicious food and drinks as you dance the night away. Now, ask yourself, how will you preserve all those once in a lifetime moments so that you can relive them and share them as often as you choose.

Hire a Professional Wedding Photographer Next!

The reality is that there are only two sure ways to capture and preserve your wedding day, and that’s photography and videography. This is why most couples getting married will hire a photographer and a videographer or just a photographer. If capturing and preserving your wedding day’s magic is crucial to you, you want to make sure that you start talking to photographers as soon as possible.

Here are 3 reasons why you should be booking your photographer after you book your venue:

  1. Because the wedding photography market is saturated with photographers, it could take you longer than you anticipated to find your perfect photographer
  2. Top photographers are usually entirely booked up a year out, you may find your photographer, but they may not be available for your wedding date
  3. You want to get your engagement photos done so, you can use them for your save the date cards.

The bottom line is hiring a wedding photographer whose work you love and who you can have some fun with takes time. Of all the vendors you will hire for your wedding, your wedding photographer will be the closest to you and your partner for the longest time on the day of your wedding. Therefore, you must hire someone you can vibe with, someone who will have your back, a photographer you can trust, and one that your family and friends will enjoy having around.

So don’t delay looking for and hiring your wedding photographer! If having lots of beautiful photos of your wedding and having tons of fun while taking pictures is a must, start the research and hiring process early.

Most couples generally book their photographers after booking their wedding venue. Still, you don’t have to wait until you book your venue to book your photographer. Some of my brides book me before they book their venue because they love my photos and my personality. In the end, whatever you decide, it is all up to you – I’m here to help you get the most out of your wedding day photos regardless!
