Having a Fort Lauderdale wedding across the street from the beautiful beach is every couple’s dream come through. For Tricia and Fitz, this was their dream. I’m so happy and grateful that I was there to capture every fleeting moment of their celebration of love.
Tricia and Fitz’s day started with them getting ready at two separate Airbnb in Fort Lauderdale. From their Airbnb, they traveled to the Crystal Ballroom for their ceremony and reception.
The Crystal Ballroom is located on South Fort Lauderdale Blvd, directly across the street from the beach. It is a unique venue with a fabulous terrace overlooking the beach. However, this post is not about the venue, its about Tricia and Fitz love for each other and their wedding vision.
One of the reasons I love photographing weddings is the story behind each couple’s love connection and how that story is revealed on the day of the wedding. I wanted to take a different spin on Tricia and Fitz Fort Lauderdale’s wedding for this post. Instead of telling you how their day unfolds, I want them to share how they got to their magical day.
So without further ado, here we go!
Antonio – How did you two meet?
Fitz – It was on July 4, 2018, when we met working for the same company. I have been working for this company for a while, and Tricia was newly employed. When I had first seen her, I said to myself, “Wow, what a beautiful woman.” We worked the same shift that day and were on opposite sides of the facility, communicating via radios. We were outdoors, and I can remember fireworks going on for the Independence Day celebration. I said to her over the radio, “Hey Trish, are you the one lighting up the sky with all these fireworks without me?” She told me no with a little chuckle in her voice. From then on, we became inseparable.
Antonio – How did he propose?
Tricia – I was sleeping in my bed and was woken up by Fitz calling me to wake up. I kept hearing, “Trish, babe, wake up.” There he was on one knee with an engagement ring in the palm of his hand as I turned around. He began expressing his feelings and love for my children and me and that he wanted us to be a family for the rest of our lives. That made me the most loved and admired woman, and felt like I had finally found my soulmate.
Antonio – What did you envision your wedding being before planning?
Tricia & Fitz – We envisioned our wedding as a destination wedding on a beautiful beach with our close friends and family. We imagined what our first look would be, seeing each other for the very first time on our special day. We imagined seeing tears coming down from each other’s eyes as we lock eyes. Everyone is just filled with joy and embracing our love in the air. At our reception, we envisioned everyone celebrating our union as husband and wife and becoming one family.
Antonio – What were your color palette and your style vision?
Tricia & Fitz – The color palette we chose was mint green and royal blue for the bridesmaids and groomsmen. Our reception colors were a hint of blush, a touch of gold with mint green. We wanted to create a royal feel with romance.
Antonio – What unique elements or DIY (Do it Yourself) details did you include?
Tricia & Fitz – Some unique elements included crystals and rhinestones, lace added to each bouquet, flower girl baskets filled with shining diamonds. Cute thank you notes for our guests.
Antonio – What was your favorite moment?
Fitz – my favorite moment is when the curtains opened, and there she was, my beautiful and lovely bride standing there just before she was about to walk down the aisle to me. Luther Vandross’ “Here and Now” began playing, and she looked in my direction, and all I could do is fall deeply in love with her all over again.
Tricia – my favorite moment was when we did our first dance. From that moment, I knew I was blessed to have such an amazing soulmate. My dreams came true, and from that moment, I will love him till the day I die.
Antonio – Tell me about your flowers, your gown, your favors, your cake, etc.
Tricia & Fitz – Our cake had three flavors, chocolate, vanilla, and red velvet. An ombre buttercream cake with our wedding colors to compliment, teal to white. The gown was a trumpet mermaid organza beading sweetheart with sleeves floor-Length wedding dress. The groom and groomsmen had on royal blue tux slim fitted with loafer dress shoes.
Antonio – Describe your wedding day in your own words.
Tricia – It’s almost been a year since my love and I have been married. Even though I couldn’t wait to share our wedding day with you, every time I would start writing this post, I would get stuck wondering…. how do I describe it?
The feeling of tremendous excitement, happiness, and finally, our life’s most beautiful moments in just a few words? Whatever I would write wouldn’t reflect that special day, I’m still not sure my words can describe the emotions I’ve been feeling, but I can’t wait any longer to share it with you!
Looking back, the wedding seems like a beautiful dream. The memories seem to be slightly foggy, but what I feel in my heart when I think of those moments is very strong, true, and one of a kind. The butterflies in my stomach, the increased heartbeat, the love for everyone who made this day so magical – even though it feels like a dream, I am sure it happened, we said yes and experienced something unique!
Antonio – What is one piece of advice that you could give brides-to-be?
Tricia – Choose your bridesmaid very carefully. Remember this day is for you and your partner, not for your friends and family but for the both of you. Always keep that in mind.
Antonio – Is there anything else you’d like to share?
Tricia & Fitz – Always remember that love always conquers all. Remember to never let go of each other’s hands, no matter how bumpy this journey becomes.
