A Fort Lauderdale wedding right by the beautiful beach is like a dream brought to life. For Tricia and Fitz, this dream came true most beautifully. I was beyond grateful to be there, capturing every fleeting and precious moment of their love-filled celebration.
Their day began in two charming Fort Lauderdale Airbnbs, where they prepared separately, brimming with excitement and anticipation. From there, they went to the Crystal Ballroom Beach Place for their ceremony and reception—a venue that set a breathtaking scene for their elegant day with its stunning terrace and ocean views.
But this isn’t just a story about a beachside venue; it’s about the journey of two people deeply in love and the heartfelt vision they brought to life on their wedding day. One of my favorite things about being a Fort Lauderdale wedding photographer is the unique story each couple shares and how that story unfolds in a personal, magical way on the big day.
For this post, I wanted to do something unique and give you a chance to hear Tricia and Fitz’s journey to their wedding in their own words. So, let’s dive in!
Antonio: How did you two meet?
Fitz: It all started on July 4, 2018. We worked for the same company, and I had been there for a while. Tricia was a new hire, and when I first saw her, I thought, “Wow, what a beautiful woman.” On that day, we worked the same shift but communicated over radios on opposite sides of the facility.
I remember being outdoors, with fireworks lighting up the sky for the Independence Day celebration. I couldn’t help but say over the radio, “Hey Trish, are you the one lighting up the sky with all these fireworks without me?” She chuckled and told me no. From that moment on, we became inseparable.
Antonio: How did he propose?
Tricia: I was in bed, sleeping, when Fitz called out to me, saying, “Trish, babe, wake up.” I turned around, and he was on one knee, holding an engagement ring. He shared his feelings for me and my children, telling me he wanted us to be a family forever. At that moment, I felt like the most loved and admired woman. It was as if I had finally found my soulmate.
Antonio: What did you envision your wedding to be before you begin planning?
Tricia & Fitz: We always imagined our wedding as a destination celebration, with a beautiful beach as the backdrop, surrounded by our closest friends and family. We pictured the first look—the moment we locked eyes for the first time on our special day. We imagined the tears, the joy, and the love filling the air. Our reception was meant to celebrate our union, a moment to share with our loved ones as we officially became one family.
Antonio: What were your color palette and style vision?
Tricia & Fitz: We chose mint green and royal blue for the bridesmaids and groomsmen. We incorporated blush, gold, and more mint green for the reception. We aimed to create a royal feel with a touch of romance, ensuring the ambiance was elegant and heartfelt.
Antonio: What unique elements or DIY details did you include in your wedding?
Tricia & Fitz: We added some beautiful and personal touches, like crystals and rhinestones. Each bouquet featured lace, and the flower girl baskets were filled with sparkling diamonds. We also included cute thank-you notes for our guests, a unique way to show appreciation.
Antonio: What was your favorite moment from the wedding?
Fitz: My favorite moment was when the curtains opened, and there she was—my beautiful bride, standing there just before she walked down the aisle to me. As soon as Luther Vandross’ “Here and Now” started playing, she looked in my direction, and in that instant, I fell deeply in love with her all over again. It was an unforgettable moment, and everything about it felt perfect.
Antonio: And what was your favorite moment, Tricia?
Tricia: For me, it was when we shared our first dance. That was when I truly knew how blessed I was to have such a fantastic soulmate. From then on, I knew I would love him for the rest of my life. It was a magical moment that perfectly captured the essence of our celebration of love at this magical Fort Lauderdale wedding venue.
Antonio: Can you tell me about the details of your wedding cake, flowers, gown, and other special touches?
Tricia & Fitz: Our wedding cake was a three-tiered masterpiece featuring chocolate, vanilla, and red velvet flavors. The cake had a beautiful ombre buttercream design that transitioned from teal to white, matching our wedding colors perfectly.
As for my gown, it was a trumpet mermaid-style wedding dress with organza, beading, and a sweetheart neckline, with long sleeves that made it truly unique. The groom and groomsmen wore royal blue slim-fit tuxedos with loafer dress shoes. Everything came together beautifully, genuinely reflecting our vision for a romantic and elegant Fort Lauderdale wedding.
Antonio: Describe your wedding day in your own words.
Tricia: It’s hard to believe that it’s almost been a year since my love and I tied the knot in beautiful Fort Lauderdale. Even though I’ve been eager to share our wedding day story, I find myself stuck every time I sit down to write, wondering how to put it into words.
How do I describe the overwhelming excitement, happiness, and beautiful moments we experienced in just a few short hours? No matter what I write, I’m not sure I can truly capture the magic of that day, but I can’t wait any longer to share it with you.
Looking back, our wedding day feels like a beautiful dream. The memories are slightly hazy, but the emotions are crystal clear. I can still feel the butterflies in my stomach, my heart racing, and my love for everyone who made this day so magical. Even though it seems like a dream, I know it happened. We said “yes” to forever, which was everything we had imagined for our dream wedding.
Antonio: What is one piece of advice you would give to brides-to-be planning their Fort Lauderdale wedding?
Tricia: Choose your bridesmaids wisely. It’s important to remember that your wedding day is about you and your partner—no one else. While friends and family are so important, your day is meant to celebrate the love you share as a couple. Keep that focus throughout the planning process.
Antonio: Is there anything else you’d like to share with couples planning their Fort Lauderdale wedding?
Tricia & Fitz: Always remember that love conquers all. No matter how bumpy the journey may be, never let go of each other’s hands. Hold on tight, and cherish every moment.
