The Historic Walton House venue in homestead, Florida, is one of my top places to create beautiful memories for South Florida couples. My wife and I moved from California to Miami over three years ago, and the Walton House was one of the first venues I toured. From my first visit to the Walton House, I knew that this venue was a magical place, and I immediately jumped on the opportunity to do a styled shoot there. The photos below are from the styled shoot.
Before we get to the photos, let me tell you why I love the Walton House – I think you will fall in love. This venue is tucked away in the rural area of Homestead, FL. There are no beaches, no high rise, or that crazy Miami nightlife. However, it is only thirty minutes south of Miami International Airport and forty minutes south of South Beach. The Historic Walton House boasts a romantic, historic cottage built in 1917 by W.K. Walton. It is surrounded by acres of lush tropic foliage and flora. Additionally, the property is home to an exotic collection of macaws, parrots, flamingos, peacocks, cranes, giant tortoises, and monkeys.
This romantic tropical paradise offers brides from all over the world an ideal place to let their imagination soar. Get your hair and makeup in your private vintage suite, which is a part of the main cottage. Tour the grounds and let the lush greenery, beautiful flowers, and the exotic calls of parrots and macaws cuddled your senses.
It’s no wonder why this venue is so popular with celebrities and is featured in Martha Stewart Weddings, Brides, and many others.
Now you know why I love the Walton House and why I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to do a styled shoot there. For the shoot, Nadine, a model from Las Olas Models and Talent Agencies, wore a beautiful Cielo gown by Bijou Bridal and Special Occasions of Coral Gables. Unlike the traditional veil, this gown has a beautiful detachable cape that wraps around the upper front of the dress and extends down the back of the gown, looking more like a cathedral veil than a cape. Her makeup was beautifully done by April South of Faces by April and hair by Stanton Mark of Hair by Stanton Mark.
Chris wore a custom-made blue suit accented by birds of paradise boutonniere. Florist Leda of Geranio’s Flowers created the boutonniere. Chris also wore an orange pocket square and silver cuff links with blue stones, compliments to wardrobe stylist Sandra Molina from VIP Style Company for selecting and sourcing wardrobe and accessories for the bride and groom.
Nadine and Chris were amazingly beautiful together and a perfect joy to photograph. They interacted well together, always displaying the gentle love and affection that is forthcoming at this lover’s paradise.
We know, we know, this is only a style shoot, right? Yes, yes and yes – but with a few guests and an officiant, this could have been a real wedding like one of the actual weddings I photographed at this venue.
